I then balanced the painted forms along slender stainless steel rods, transforming the original painting into a kinetic sculpture.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eI think of these works as \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003emoving paintings\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e. Each hand-cut form carries a different fragment of the original artwork, and as the mobile responds to the gentlest air currents, those fragments turn, disappear, and return. Lines cross and separate. Colors meet briefly and move apart. The composition is never entirely still and never quite the same twice.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThis particular piece has more energetic line work than many of my paintings—marks that feel a little like graffiti, handwriting, symbols, and visual notes made in the middle of an improvisation. Some are bold and graphic; others are only revealed as the individual paintings slowly turn.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eOff Script\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e measures approximately \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e32 inches tall by 17 inches wide\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e.
