Constellation Style Large Hanging Mobile – Mid Century Modern Kinetic Sculpture - In Black and Red
A large modern mobile filled with color, movement and beautifully balanced form.
The Constellation Style Large Hanging Mobile is an original Skysetter design featuring an airy, branching composition of hand-cut abstract shapes balanced on graceful stainless-steel rods. As the mobile slowly turns, its shapes continually shift in relationship to one another, creating a kinetic sculpture that looks different from every angle.
This design has a special history. I originally created it in 2017 for display in Hudson's Bay retail stores in Canada and the Netherlands. Originally known in my studio simply as “Bay 1,” the design has now been renamed Constellation Style—a much better reflection of the arrangement of shapes seemingly suspended in space.
Most of the individual components are cut by hand in my studio, rather than being produced from identical machine-cut shapes. The circular components are machine cut, while the remaining organic forms retain the subtle variations that are part of a handcrafted sculpture.
Constellation Style is available in black and red or all black
The lightweight components are balanced on stainless-steel rods and suspended from a sealed ball-bearing swivel, allowing the sculpture to respond to gentle air currents and rotate freely.
At approximately 43" wide × 51" tall, Constellation Style makes a wonderful statement in a living room, entryway, office, loft, stairwell or other open interior space.
Each mobile is handcrafted, assembled and individually balanced in my Mississippi studio.
