This custom commission features two large-scale kinetic mobile sculptures created for a state college art department, designed to bring movement, color, and balance into a modern architectural space.

I was approached with a tight timeline and a clear direction—create two large steel mobiles with a similar scale and presence to previously selected works, while allowing for artistic interpretation. With only 3.5 weeks from concept to completion, I worked closely with the client to design, fabricate, and deliver both sculptures ahead of schedule.

Because some original components were unavailable, I provided alternative design options using materials I had in stock. The client gave me a high level of artistic freedom, including full trust in the composition and color placement of the nine selected colors. They were especially drawn to circular elements, which I incorporated throughout both pieces to create rhythm and continuity.

Each sculpture was constructed using carbon steel components and stainless steel rods, creating a strong, balanced structure designed for long-term installation. For this project, the surfaces were professionally spray painted to meet the project timeline (I have since transitioned exclusively to powder coating for future work).

Throughout the process, I shared progress images to ensure alignment and transparency. The final sculptures were completed in just three weeks, professionally crated, and shipped with time to spare before the installation deadline.

These pieces now live in a light-filled, contemporary interior where they respond to subtle air movement—bringing a quiet, ever-changing presence to the space.
