Moving Painting Kinetic Mobile – Hand Painted Seascape on Evolon, Abstract Ocean Sunset Hanging Art, Modern Mobile Sculpture, 22” Tall
This piece is part of my exploration into what I think of as a moving painting—a way of allowing a single image to shift, fragment, and come back together through motion.
The seascape is hand painted with acrylic on Evolon, a soft, durable, non-woven textile that allows the color to sit beautifully on the surface while remaining lightweight enough to move effortlessly. As the mobile turns, the image breaks apart into vertical passages and then re-aligns again, creating a constantly changing ocean horizon.
The painted image itself measures approximately 16 inches wide by 11 inches tall, and the full mobile measures 22 inches tall from the hook to the bottom. It is constructed with stainless steel rods and finished with a smooth ball bearing swivel, allowing it to respond to the lightest air currents. I design my mobiles to be hung and viewed at eye level, where the motion becomes part of the visual experience.
This piece is in stock and ready to ship, arriving fully assembled and ready to hang.
It works as both a contemporary kinetic sculpture and a painting in motion—ideal for collectors, coastal interiors, or anyone drawn to the rhythm of water and sky. It also makes a meaningful and unexpected gift, offering a lifetime piece that continues to change over time.
Each mobile I create is one of a kind, carefully balanced by hand so the movement feels natural and alive.
